Enjoy your flights with Saudi airlines

Saudi Airlines is the flag carrier airline of Saudi Arabia and is based in Jeddah. It uses the name ‘Saudia’ and operates domestic and international flights to over 120 destinations in the Middle East, Asia, Africa, North America and Europe.

Saudi Arabian Airlines’ history begins in 14 February 1945 when the U.S. President Franklin D. Roosevelt gifted a single twin-engine DC-3 (Dakota) HZ-AAX to King Abdul Aziz. The DC-3 was used on routes between Riyadh, Jeddah and Dhahran and carried both passengers as well as cargo. Within a month later, two more DC-3 were purchased by Saudi Arabia.

In the year 1946, Saudi Airlines was set up as an operating agency of the Ministry of Defense. The first airport and the operating base of the airline was situated at Kandara, which now comes under the downtown area of Jeddah.
